A Word With Wyatt #4: Concerts

Over the last few weeks several acts have announced they will be performing in Central TX. Here is a rundown of some of the bigger names and a few I plan to see.

At the end of February we have John Mellencamp and Muse both performing on the 28th. Never seen either of these acts live but do enjoy their music. Maybe next time.

March brings several intriguing options. My top picks would be  Silversun Pickups, who play Emo’s on 3/9 and Vance Joy who is playing 2 shows at ACL live 3/20 & 3/21. I have seen him several times and enjoy his shows but Monday and Tuesday nights are a tough night to take in a late show for me.

April showcases heavy hitters like Eric Johnson on April Fools Day and Widespread Panic at ACL live on 4/15. I doubt I’ll go to either but great acts that I would love to see someday. Glad to see that Seal has recovered from his run in with wolves and has a show at Bass Concert Hall on the 29th.

In May Burnet is hosting “Utopia Fest” with headliners Rubble Bucket and Shiny Ribs, I know Lance is a big Shiny Ribs fan, if you see him at the show tell him you love 180 and he’ll buy you a beer! Tom Jones and Psychedelic Furs both will play ACL live on 5/3 and 5/5. In between Lil Wayne will do what he does at Stubs on 5/4. I saw Lil Wayne with Blink 182 a few years ago, it was a strange show. That weekend is Pecan Street, always a good time.

In June Billy Strings is coming to the Moody Center, I hope to catch this show. That kid is something else! Already have my tickets to see the Pixies with Franz Ferdinand on 6/25 at Waterloo Park. I really love that venue and always seeing the Pixies. I hope to see you there!

You can see live music all over Austin at pretty much any time or day, one of the great things about our fair city. Thats it for now, enjoy a show or 2 designs.
