Cubicles are Making a Comeback!

Over the past couple of years, cubicles had been viewed as “outdated”. The typical office cubicle was labeled to be confining, and employers began getting rid of them in order to create a more spacious and open working environment. Now that workers are transitioning back to the office, cubicles seem to be making a comeback!

According to an article from the New York Times, cubicles were a thing of the past, until employees began to return to the office. As these individuals began making this transition, they realized how important their personal space and privacy was. Employees had gotten used to working from their own homes, and the quiet and comfort that comes along with it. Suddenly, the need for walls and separation seems like a no-brainer!

In an article from the Wall Street Journal, they stated that many people never liked the open layout. They stated that employees didn't have as much space to decorate, and could find it difficult to focus if their coworkers were chatting. All the more reason that offices are bringing back that sense of privacy.

Our idea of the office of the future is constantly changing, as new trends come and old trends go. Or, in this case, old trends resurface. The open layout does still have its benefits, but now we are understanding all the hype around cubicles to begin with. If you want to explore the cubicle vs open layout, we are here to help!
