A Word With Wyatt #3: Agape BBQ
A few weeks ago I attended an event hosted by The Georgetown and Liberty Hill Chambers of Commerce. It was a great networking event but I was pleasantly surprised and really taken by the venue. Agape BBQ in downtown Liberty Hill, TX. At the event I enjoyed some pulled pork and a cold beer while amazed that I had not heard of this place before. I have probably driven through Liberty Hill 100 times and never realized they had a downtown. One of the owners, Lonnie, gave me the low down on their history and schedule and I decided I needed to go back with the family and give it a proper try.
That Friday after work we loaded up and headed out 29 to Liberty Hill. Take HWY 1869 southwest once you arrive in Liberty Hill and low and behold you are downtown. Stay on 1869 just past downtown and Agape is on your right. From the front it has the charm of a small farmhouse but the outdoor area in the back is where I was really drawn. Picnic tables, tall trees, and a cool breeze accompanied by live music on the small stage in the back corner. About the perfect spot for our family of 5 to enjoy a night out. I had the brisket with coleslaw and beans all were superb. The brisket was moist with great flavor. So good we ordered more to take home for the weekend, it didn’t see Saturday night. Really glad I was introduced to this little gem and looking forward to what I am going to eat when we return. Oh, and next time I’m bringing the dog!
If you are looking for some BBQ on your way to the hill country give it a try, I’ll bet your glad you did.
